Battersea Power Station walking tour

by Chris Van Hayden

Monday 20th March 2023

Visit by public transport

This walking tour starts at Queenstown Road station and takes us through Battersea Park where we'll see plenty of interesting social history before we arrive at the magnificent Power Station. Derelict for decades, it has now been transformed into a spectacular multi-billion-pound commercial and residential centre with world-class architecture surrounding the four famous chimneys.

Chris Van Hayden is a London Blue Badge Guide. He was born in Milan but grew up in London. He lived in Italy for eleven years, then El Salvador for ten years, and later in Texas, where he trained to be an Air Force pilot.

He has a degree in History and Art History. As well as being a London guide, Chris also runs a successful guitar teaching business, writes music, rows along the river, and publishes children's fiction.
