The Elegance of the Regency

In this talk we examine this pivotal period of our history, between the Georgians and the Victorians. It was a time of conflict and social change and it was overseen by one of the most extravagant and disliked royals - the Prince Regent, later George IV. We’ll look at the man, his wives and mistresses, his acquaintances and his legacy. Although he had many shortcomings, he was an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and we will see examples of architecture, paintings, music and literature of the period.
